ACCOLADES, "THEATER PEOPLE" SEASON FOUR (PART TWO)
The fourth season of local Minneapolis comedy web series "Theater People" continues to be screened at festivals around the country and globe.
In 2018, episodes of "Theater People" were screened at festivals in Sicily, Caorle, Melbourne, Seoul, Bilbao, New Jersey, Baltimore, and at the local MN Web Fest in Minneapolis. At the festivals in Seoul, Bilbao, Baltimore, and Minnesota, the series was also nominated for "Best Ensemble" honors, and took home the award at Seoul, Baltimore, and Minnesota's festivals.
In addition to "Best Ensemble" recognition at MN Web Fest, the series was also honored with direct selections to 2019 festivals Die Seriale in Germany and Realist Web Fest in Russia. "Theater People" was also nominated for "Best of Minnesota", "Best Representation of LGBTQ Communities", "Best Comedic Performance (Stacia Rice)", and "Best Comedy" at festival.
At the first New Jersey Web Festival in September 2018, the series was nominated in 5 categories: "Outstanding Comedy Series", "Best Actress in a Comedy (Stacia Rice)", "Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy (Paul LaNave)", "Best Cinematography", and the "Michael J. Ajakwe Jr. Award". "Theater People" not only took home the "Best Cinematography" and "Outstanding Comedy Series", but was also awarded the first ever "Best of the Festival" top honor.
Closing out 2018, "Theater People" was the most viewed series on SeekaTV's streaming platform for the year, and placed at #32 on the final Web Series World Cup rankings, making it the 6th highest series from the USA on the list. On its all-time rankings, the Web Series World Cup placed "Theater People" at #74. Coming up in 2019, the series will play at festivals in Miami, Apulia, Germany, and Russia.
